Over the last several years, I have become quite fond of breakfast foods, particularly breakfast sandwiches. When I have some time to spare, I enjoy being able to eat a nice, protein-rich blend of eggs and either sausage or bacon in an all-in-one sandwich.
On Sundays, my family usually cooks breakfast for everyone. This typically includes some combination of scrambled eggs, sausage patties or bacon, and either biscuits, toast, or English muffins. During these meals, I often put my bacon or sausage inside the bread and eat it like a sandwich.
For us, Sunday breakfast is a nice way to all come together one last time before we each go off in our own directions as the new week starts. This warm feeling of community that I have associated with our breakfasts has shaped my love for breakfast foods. Lunch and dinner are good, too, but there is something about breakfast dishes that I greatly enjoy, to the point where I will try to get them whenever possible.
At the Chat, I usually get a sausage and egg sandwich for breakfast. Those sandwiches are pretty good, serving as a nice treat to fill me up for at least the next several hours.
While I do not go to Dunkin’ very often, as I do not drink coffee, I really enjoy getting a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on a croissant. Whenever my family and I need to get something quick, we order breakfast from there, and the aforementioned croissant sandwich is my go-to order.
Over the years, I have had a lot of great sandwiches from both Dunkin’ and the Chat, but nothing tops what my dad likes to call a “McHoodie.”
A few years ago, my dad cooked breakfast for me one morning, and texted me that my McHoodie was ready. It consisted of a fried egg and thoroughly-cooked bacon on an English muffin, and it was quite possibly the best breakfast sandwich I had ever tasted.
Now, whenever I order out, I usually prefer sausage on a breakfast sandwich. I am reluctant to order bacon on these sandwiches because I am a bit particular about my bacon.
In my opinion, the best bacon is the crispiest bacon. While some places cook bacon fairly well, others do not, so I typically just play it safe and order sausage most of the time. Although it is possible for anything to be undercooked, including sausage, I feel like bacon is a lot more commonly undercooked.
Granted, bacon that is not as thoroughly cooked is still edible, but I cannot stand eating bacon that is not cooked at least somewhat well-done. The bacon tastes very chewy, which, in my eyes, is not how bacon should taste.
On the other hand, the crispiness of the bacon on the McHoodie is one of the key ingredients, and my dad nails it every time. The McHoodie is the best blend of savory bacon, warm eggs straight from the frying pan, and any variety of toasted bread.
The passion and care that goes into a McHoodie really puts it over the top for me. Hearing the word McHoodie means more than just a breakfast sandwich; it represents the love that my family has for one another and the reminder that we are always there for each other. It makes breakfast such an enjoyable time for me, something that I always look forward to.
