Loco Mag is seeking college-age writers, photographers, videographers, designers, and interviewers to contribute to our latest issue! For those who aren’t familiar with our work, Loco is a lifestyle and culture magazine always on the hunt for new articles, photo spreads, and fresh takes on student perspectives. We are not strictly a news publication or a creative writing publication. We want to hear from you! We want your stories in your voice and your words.
Censorship is an urgent issue at hand right now, existing seemingly everywhere within our society. There are limits on what we can and cannot say, which can easily harm our ability to speak out about important problems that impact us on a daily basis. If we do not stand up against censorship, we may never be able to freely speak our minds again.
This is a prime opportunity for you to tell us about a time when you have experienced censorship. Perhaps you’ve noticed censored versions of your favorite TV shows, movies, or video games. You may have also seen this play out on social media as well, with some posts being flagged as “sensitive content” for ridiculous reasons. Whatever the case may be, we want to hear about the times that you have encountered censorship on a regular basis.

Here are some keywords to get you started: censorship, curse words, misunderstandings, Censor, I Barely Know ‘Er!, YouTube, social media, bodily functions, extremism, kindergartenification/kid friendly, censoring female vs. male bodies, movie censorship/Hays code, censoring history, university censorship/DEI removal, religion/religious censers for incense, privacy, Internet, video games.
Our sections include Travel, Lifestyle, AV Room (Audio/Photo/Video), Entertainment, Mood, and Features. Features typically run around 1,500 words. Have more than that? Cool! If not, no worries. We’re an electronic publication so space is unlimited. We’ll accept anything from a 250-word photo spread to a 500-word interview to an hour-long podcast to a 2-minute video. Be creative, and tell your truth.
