Dear YouTube,
What the f@%k is your deal with current censorship rules and why the f@%k are you letting the robots handle things? I used to be able to watch pirated anime on this site, people swearing,and yaoi with poorly censored panels, and now you are so bad at keeping kids from finding stuff that they shouldn’t despite there being an app that you have managed poorly since its inception. You are now letting a stupid AI program handle things!!! It’s an absolute mess YouTube!
I’ve been watching videos on the platform for years and all of a sudden the worst censorship and age verification model I’ve seen is what you chose to implement. I got flagged for being under 18 by the new system because I watch a lot of Pokémon content, cause I happen to have a bit of a special interest in the fun little creature collection game. I was thankfully able to link my YouTube to my Gmail which has my age because I was not about to take a video of myself or upload my ID into a system that will keep my information for years just to prove my age. And while I’m on that point about it keeping information, ever consider how easy it is for that information to be stolen due to poor cyber security? It’s a mess YouTube, a big f@%king mess.
The platform has taken hit after hit for years due to poor management on the corporations part and now this is like the icing on the cake. It’s just frustrating seeing how slowly more and more platforms are using AI to monitor and regulate things instead of using actual humans that can give you an accurate reading on whether something is age appropriate or not. Also, it should not be up to the government or to the platforms to protect the younger generations on the internet, it should be up to the parents or guardians of the young person, but that is a topic for a different article with much more research than this one that is mostly an upset rant.
