We know you’re dying to find out how this bracket ends, to learn which theme is, as decided by this particular Loco staff, the Greatest of All Time. We’re down to eight themes, and to keep all the waiting to a minimum, will be crowning a champion today! Don’t skip to the end, but place your bets now. These were the hardest match-ups of the tournament. The Elite 8 starts now:

I really did get tired of losing the piece of paper I wrote this bracket on – Kate
A SOPHIE’S CHOICE reference for no one. Meryl, if you’re reading this, I love you. – Kate

And then there were the Final Four! We’re down to Racecar Backwards vs. Sex, Lies, and Catfish, and Taking the L vs. Portrait Mode.

Let the bloodbath begin (just kidding, it’s mostly a bunch of dummies not wanting to choose because we love all of the themes.)

(the poll got messed up. you will see another in the next few screenshots. My apologies. – Kate)
It looks like a tie, but we had some technical issues. Don’t worry, there’s a winner to be crowned!

Taking the L takes the next spot in the finals. We’re down to a championship round! We’ve brought 50 themes down to only 2: Racecar Backwards, a theme based on palindromic titles, versus our latest Taking the L, the 50th theme that this staff, possibly to a fault, is rather emotionally attached to. To quote myself beginning at age 10, the first time I completed a March Madness bracket and bet $10 of my own money on Duke (ew,) who ya got?

And Racecar Backwards is our champion. I can’t speak for everyone, but I think Racecar is one of those things that is just quintessentially Loco Mag. It brings so many different things to the table in a theme that presents a fun but challenging task. The Palindrome Issue, as it is also known, is one of the things that drew my attention before I was a member of this staff, and it’s the kind of work I’ve always hoped we’d do. I think we’ve held up the legacy pretty well, and I know future Loco contributors will, too.

Thanks for playing along with us, and I’m sorry that there wasn’t more basketball involved. We’re not very tall. Real basketball wouldn’t really have worked here.
