We all have a bit of wanderlust in us, always searching for our next adventure. With limited time, however, we should choose carefully. To make the most of each new escapade, we have to find the best of the best places to visit. But how do we narrow down our choices? That’s the hard part. Whether you are a beach person or a mountain person, there is bound to be something that will take your breath away in this world.

Fortunately, I have taken a lot of interest in traveling as well, and though I have not been to all of these places, they are definitely on my bucket list. So here are some amazing views that will blow you away and leave you drooling. Maybe you’ll find your next vacation destination.

  1. Machu Picchu

Peru brings so many amazing views, but this is specifically dedicated to Machu Picchu. The Incan citadel has an incredible story behind it, dating back to around 1450. If that wasn’t cool enough, the Incas built it without wheels to transport the huge rocks. Insane, right? You can read more about this wonder of the world at their official website. If you’re a sucker for warm weather and lush, green landscape, Machu Picchu is for you.

  1. Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest)

Himalayan Buddhist site Paro Taktsang in Bhutan is a beautifully placed temple above the Paro valley. Its architecture, built on the side of a mountain, is astonishing to everyone who gets the opportunity to see it. The wooden bridges and rock stairways all lead to the four-storied temple. But be careful, as the rock faces are extremely steep, if not vertical.

  1. Arashiyama (bamboo forest)

Worm excrement has never looked so enticing, am I right? The caves in New Zealand are home to some fascinating little creatures, glow worms. Their bioluminescence comes from their waste, which is converted into light to attract prey. Hmm. Well, they do make the caves pretty.

  1. Oia

Santorini, Greece just screams vacation spot, as its coastal city Oia glows with warmth and light. Carved into the cliffs, this gorgeous city is known for its whitewashed houses and amazing view of the Aegean sea. No one is going to want to leave this place.

Okay, there have been so many warm, beautiful places in this list, but what about cold beautiful places? Iceland is known for its astonishing landscapes, even if its temperatures are a bit lower than you might like. Ice can be so lovely, though, so do not be afraid to venture into these glacier caves.

  1. Tamil Nadu

India is filled with amazing food, color, and culture, so it’s no surprise that it made this list. Tamil Nadu is a southern state in India. It features beautifully built and decorated Dravidian style Hindu temples that can take anyone’s breath away. If that’s not enough, once you’ve seen the temples, take a trip to the Indian Ocean directly south.

  1. Havasu Falls

For those of you who love hiking, the Grand Canyon in the United States is perfect for you. Arizona is home to such wonderful views as the Havasu Falls. Really, it’s the best of both worlds— after hiking through some of the most intense canyons, take a load off and dip your feet into the falls.

  1. Sossusvlei

Not a water person? No problem. Love sand? Even better. These giant sand dunes in Namibia tower at wild heights, as some of the highest dunes in the world. Be prepared for desert climates, though, as the difference in temperatures throughout the day can be extreme.

  1. Rainbow Mountains of Zhangye Danxia

Alice in Wonderland has nothing on China’s Rainbow Mountains. Minerals and erosion somehow made these vast mountains come alive. The colors seem unnatural, but these gorgeous peaks are not man-made. See nature’s beauty at it’s finest in this incredible spot.

So much to do, so little time. If you’re like me and want to see mind-blowing mountains and crystal blue waters, start with this list. These places will let you explore some of nature’s most fascinating scenes, and some of the coolest buildings. So start saving that cash, because the world awaits. (And bring some napkins to wipe your drool.)
