Loco Mag is seeking college-age writers, photographers, videographers, designers, and interviewers to contribute to our latest issue! Loco is a lifestyle and culture magazine always on the hunt for new articles, photo spreads, and fresh takes on student perspectives. We do not publish fictional content, but we are not strictly a news publication. We want to hear from you! We want your stories in your voice and your words.
Being traced all the way back to 90s gaming culture, maxing was used as a way for players to balance the positive and negative outcomes of their games. In the early to mid 2000s, the phrase gained a completely new meaning once terms like looksmaxxing became mainstream. Now with even more meanings and an extra x, maxxing can mean and stand for practically anything your heart desires!
Have a friend by the name of Max who’s super interesting and willing to tell their life story? Maybe there’s some weird internet phenomenon taking over that’s worth reporting on. Perhaps you have a few SEPTA stories to share, or a story to tell about the historic loco-motive train “Big Boy.” Whatever you’re passionate about, it can be maxxed if you put your all into it!
Need more inspiration? Here are a few keywords to help maxx your chances of contributing to this issue: Appearances, health, gaming, language, shopping, obsession, glow up, optimization, maximalist, over the top, extreme, and balance.
Our sections include Travel, Lifestyle, AV Room (Audio/Photo/Video), Entertainment, Mood, and Features. Features typically run around 1,500 words. Have more than that? Cool! If not, no worries. We’re an electronic publication so space is unlimited. We’ll accept anything from a 250-word photo spread to a 500-word interview to an hour-long podcast to a 2-minute video. Be creative, and tell your truth.
