Your choice takes you to the home (and castle) of Henry Mercer, an archeologist, tile maker, and collector who used to live in the area. The castle definitely feels like a former archeologist’s home, with concrete cave-like passages and a maze of decorated rooms.

During your tour of the castle you encounter books older than yourself, a human skull, ancient cuneiform tiles, and other strange artifacts. You may also learn some super cool facts, like how Mercer had a dog named Rollo, his favorite author was Edgar Allan Poe, or how he briefly tried his hand at writing horror fiction only to abandon this pursuit after his first book (a short story collection titled “November Night Tales”). You may also hear about some less-desirable aspects of his personality, like his die-hard obsession with Christopher Columbus.

At the end of your tour you have time to explore one more place before moving on with your journey: the terrace at the top of Mercer’s castle, or the wooded path that leads out behind the property. Which do you choose?
