Winter is on its way. The days are getting colder, shorter, and generally just horrible. That’s okay though, we can all just snuggle under blankets and turn the heater up—right?

Wrong.

I have the misfortune of living in a dorm building where I can’t control the heat and, for some unknown reason, those who do have power over the thermostat have decided to let us all suffer in shivery silence. I spend most of my time clutching a toasty beverage and wearing as many sweatshirts as possible.

To battle the cold, I chose to make hand-warming mug cake using the one magical ingredient which reigns supreme above all others: Nutella. I had received a container from my parents recently, which I suppose was part of their insidious plan to give me diabetes. Either way, I was left with an entire jar. All. For. Myself.

For the sake of my waistline—and my arteries—I decided to put the marvelous, gloopy chocolate spread to use testing out one of Pinterest’s most brilliant microwavable masterpieces: 3-ingredient Nutella mug cake.

That’s right. Three ingredients. Two minutes in the microwave. It sounded far too good to be true, but when all was said and done I was left with one gooey, wonderfully Nutella-y brownie. Seriously, if you’re sad, or craving chocolate—or if you’re a human being with a pulse and taste buds, this mug cake is worth a shot. And it did keep my hands warm—for the few short minutes it lasted.

(Pro Tip: Use more Nutella as frosting—after all, you can NEVER have too much Nutella.)
