In week eighteen, also the beginning of NFL playoffs, it’s Chicago Bears against the Philadelphia Eagles.  The Eagles featured young and upcoming quarterback, Randall Cunningham, who was in the third year of his NFL career.  It’s weird because in this divisional playoff, weather turned drastically as a creepy, eerie fog rolled in during the first quarter.  Cunningham, “Ultimate Weapon”, amazingly displayed some exciting plays with his throwing and running of the ball especially before the fog completely covered the game.  It’s unfortunate the Eagles had some mistakes, very costly, and a couple of touchdowns called back, made eagles fans upset while the game progressed. It was fascinating the Eagles were competitive throughout but their scoring was only field goals totaling twelve points.  Eagles did play defensive ball as Reggie White (92) lead the way, along with Clyde Simmons. The infamous fog bowl would go down as the second worst weather game played in sports history. Question to ask: would the Philadelphia Eagles prevail if fog didn’t play a fracture?  What the Fog!!!

Randall Cunningham piled up one attention-grabbing statistic throwing for four hundred and seven yards passing before and after an eerie, stupid fog rolled in and became more of a fracture.  However, Dikita’s Bears, defensively stuffed Cunningham as he rushed for twelve yards total, unusual for the “Ultimate Weapon”. For head coach Buddy Ryan reaching divisional playoffs it was an important stage, becoming the first of three years between 1988 through 1990.  Coach Ryan even made Cunningham a punter during his spectacular NFL career. Considering the Eagles had a lack of running game which included Anthony Toney and Keith Byars this team was beginning to show stages of growth under Ryan, Head Coach, and Cunningham will be remembered among Eagles fans.  This infamous fog bowl also remembered by NFL fans chatting “What the Fog!”, “What the Fog!”, “What the Fog!”. A tough game for Eagles fans to remember and live with but Eagles began a tradition making the playoffs more regularly during the late 1990’s. Randall Cunningham, number 12, the “Ultimate Weapon”.
