Whether it be in Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical or the original film adaptation, Remy the rat of Ratatouille fame holds a special place in my heart. This Pixar masterpiece premiered in June 2007, to rave reviews from film critics and general audiences alike. Remy was voiced by American comedian, Patton Oswalt.

The synopsis of the work (as told by IMBD) is as follows: “A rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family’s wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. When fate places Remy in the sewers of Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero, Auguste Gusteau. Despite the apparent dangers of being an unlikely, and certainly unwanted, visitor in the kitchen of a fine French restaurant, Remy’s passion for cooking soon sets into motion a hilarious and exciting rat race that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down.”

My love for this film runs deep. I unironically listen to Le Festin, a song which appears as part of the Ratatouille soundtrack, on a daily basis. When I am under the influence of alcohol, I frequently cozy up on my couch and watch Remy tear up Paris. It genuinely puts me at peace.

When I had the opportunity to visit Disneyland Paris in November 2019, I rode Ratatouille: The Adventure 4 times in a row, 3 of those times being by myself. You can imagine the surprise of the cast members who saw a 20-something hop into the single rider line time and time again. I would sell my soul to eat a chocolate croissant while walking around a fake Paris with friends.

It may be a totally odd choice of comfort movie, but Ratatouille will always boost my dopamine levels. Merci d’exister, Ratatouille- je t’aime.
