1. Coming in at eight foot two inches and in first place, everybody’s yellow “anthropomorphic canary”, Big Bird. Undoubtedly, the most talented, and versatile bird, Big Bird can do pretty much anything, from roller and ice skating to swimming to singing and writing poetry. Big Bird nests behind 123 Sesame Street in a tree in a nest fit for a king. Even the Library of Congress thinks he’s the number one bird, they voted him to be a living legend in 2000.
  2. He’s number nine, but my number two, coming in at six foot six, my MCM, an Eagle’s Quarterback, Nick Foles. After Carson Wentz’s midseason injury, Foles led the Birds to a super bowl win and performed the ‘Philly Special’, a record setting play where he scored a touchdown on the fourth down.
  3. The second legendary bird on this list, Articuno. One of the Three Winged Mirage Legendary Pokemon, Articuno is a flying/ice type pokemon. In Japanese, Articuno is named Furiza, or freezer, in the English version the name Articuno is a combination of ‘Arctic’ and ‘Uno’, meaning “the Arctic one”. So in my opinion, Articuno is a justified third place in the list of top 10 birds.
  4. Bird number four haunts me equally as much as I love it, Potty the Parrot. Otherwise known as as the parrot from Spongebob Squarepants. This puppetty parrot is loud and obnoxious, and is actually pretty terrifying in the way it acts and talks.
  5. Unlike some of the other birds on this list, the Lyre Bird, is a real and talented bird. This Australian flyer can mimic practically any sound it hears. It is said that the Lyre Bird can mimic any natural or artificial sound it hears. Famously, this bird can mimic chainsaws. This is the ultimate noise machine bird if we’re being honest.
  6. If humans didn’t have technology, bird number 6 would be an apex predator. Flying in at speeds up 242 miles per hour, the Peregrine Falcon can easily pick off the weaklings of a species. Wings spans from 29 inches to 47 inches reaches diving speeds of 200 mph, which beats the next fastest bird by 50 mph. With 19 subspecies, these falcons can be found in places across the world, including cities on the east coasts. They have even be observed diving along skyscrapers hunting for food.
  7. Bird seven is one of the most efficient fliers and hunters, I chose the Barn Owl to be specific, but owls in general are known to be one of the most quiet fliers out there. Mostly nocturnal, or active during the night, Owls come in around 200 different types that range from 5 inches and 1 ounce all the way to 28 inches and 9 pounds. Interestingly, owls have 14 neck vertebrae, which allow them to rotate their necks 270 degrees.
  8. Although placing at number eight, this is my personal favorite bird to actually exist. The California Condor is a critically endangered bird of prey that actually had been labeled extinct in 1987, leaving all Condors left to be in captivity. As of 2017, there are roughly 460 Condors in the wild. Although rather ugly, the Condor’s wingspan ranges from 8.2 feet all the way to 9.8 feet. Condors are a TRUE feat of bird excellence.
  9. Believe it or not, this bird’s name really is the Blue-Footed Booby. This little guy is a seabird with bright blue feet that help them swim when they aren’t diving underwater for fish. The name ‘Booby’ comes from the spanish word ‘bobo’ which means stupid or foolish.
  10. Coming in at bird number ten, the bird dressed for success, ready to party with the fanciest table setting, the Adelie Penguin. Wearing a tux, this golden beaked, black and white is resident of Antarctica loves to forage for dinner or even go on the hunt for dinner too. Standing between 18 and 28 inches, they swim around 5 mph and can even jump 10 feet out the water. Whoever said these birds were flightless are wrong!!
