For all those who write graffiti off as mere vandalism, this article is not for you. Graffiti has held its place as a controversial art form for centuries, gracing public streets and buildings alike. No matter what your opinion on it is, it’s hard to admit that some of this art is really pretty epic when you get a closer look at it.

One popular kind of street art is underpass graffiti. See here some iconic underpass locations like Leake Street in London and Atlanta, Georgia’s Krog Street Tunnel (both of which are far more impressive than what can be contained in this article).

Philadelphia is a city that is home to much of this unique art and its own resident writers (graffiti artists). Last week I had the exciting opportunity to explore some of these locations specifically located in and around the Wissahickon Valley Park. The park stretches from the Flourtown area all the way down to Germantown and contains its fair share of expansive overpasses. These locations are breathtaking in their own right, but become all the more impressive with the graffiti art that has built up on them over the years.

Below are a selection of just some of the art I was able to see while exploring these locations:

Looking around these spots turned out to be a pretty epic adventure, perfect for anyone looking to check out spots off the beaten path (literally) and see some nice art. Below is the link to a map featuring the locations of the photos above as well as some other spots containing cool underpass graffiti throughout the Wissahickon Valley Park. Go see them for yourself!
