Every human being lives a life where they have ups and downs. I, myself, have had moments in my life where I was knocked down and got upset about it for a moment. Whether it was failing an exam, having a bad game while playing baseball, or even failing at a pr in the gym. What matters is not that exact moment. What matters is what you do about it. Throughout the last few years of my life, I’ve learned that if something in my life doesn’t go as planned, then there’s nothing to do besides continue to push forward. Accept what happened and begin to be better so it doesn’t happen again.

During my lifetime, I have had family members I was extremely close with pass away unexpectedly. When I was younger I would cry and be upset for days. I would not get anything done. I would just sit in bed and rot away. That all changed one day when a family member I loved more than myself passed and I felt broken. I cried nonstop for a solid 45 mins, but then I thought to myself, “Why am I crying right now? This isn’t what he would have wanted at all. He would’ve told me to suck it up and move on.” That moment is when I realized that no matter how bad times get, I must always keep going, because I am not only moving forward for myself, but I am doing it for loved ones who have passed or those who are still alive.

This doesn’t mean you can’t be upset and cry if someone passes away, or be upset when you fail at something. It is perfectly normal to have these feelings and express them. Just at some point you will need to accept what happened and move on with your life. Always remember you have a goal you plan to accomplish, and if something happens to prevent that  then don’t let  it keep you in place. Like my grandmother always said, “Life’s a bitch, then you die”. So when stuff happens and you feel like you can’t keep going, remind yourself that life is short, and you need to make the best of every moment you have.
