We all have those things that grind our gears. The little nuisances that annoy us, even if they’re insignificant. We all have those moments, so here’s a few of mine.

  • TV shows getting sped up for commercials. With the rise of streaming and the fall of cable, networks have been pushing for more and more commercials to cram into their timeslots in order to milk a little more money out of a program. The downside to this is that TV shows are now slightly sped up. While it may not be instantly noticeable, once you do pick up on how fast the characters are speaking, it becomes very distracting. TBS is already owned by a massive media conglomerate, so it’s not going to be a big deal if Seinfeld doesn’t get a few extra commercials in.
  • Having a good comeback after the fact. We’ve all gotten into arguments with friends. Sometimes there’s a clear victor, or a good argument shared that we can’t find a good response to. But then, the day after the argument’s over, we finally have a good defense or comeback. But because the debate’s irrelevant, you’re stuck with the argument being incomplete. It’s a real downer, as you say to yourself “why didn’t I think of that?”
  • When Uber drivers try to talk to you. I don’t know why drivers keep doing this, but several times, I’ve gotten an Uber or Lyft driver who’s tried to strike up a conversation. And quite honestly, it’s obnoxious. Your job is to take me from point A to point B. I want to enjoy some peace and quiet on the way there. I don’t want some stranger wondering why I’m going to a restaurant or Wal-Mart, or asking what I do for a living. Just leave me be!
  • When programming goes into overrun. You scheduled a recording of the next episode of your favorite show. But a football game goes into overtime, unplanned by the network. Very soon, you’re faced with the fact that your recording has about 20 minutes of the game, and the remaining 10 minutes is the show you wanted to watch in the first place. It becomes a much more cumbersome task as a result, forcing you to look around to see the full episode online or on-demand instead of the simpler route.
  • When people are just nosy in general. We’ve all met that one guy. The guy who spies on you. The guy who wants to see what you’re doing. The guy who gets into other people’s business because his life is just that boring. People who mind other people’s business in general are bad enough, but those who don’t even try to hide it are especially obnoxious.

I’m sure many of these are shared by fellow Loco readers, but what do you think? Are there any I missed? Do you have your own irrational angers?
