Loco Mag is seeking college-age writers, photographers, videographers, designers, and interviewers to contribute to our latest issue! Loco is a lifestyle and culture magazine always on the hunt for new articles, photo spreads, and fresh takes on student perspectives. We are not strictly a news publication or a creative writing publication. We want to hear from you. We want your stories in your voice and your words.
With the semester well upon us and spooky season coming up, we figured that having a theme to encompass all these converging vibes was absolutely necasary. Necicery? Necessary? Whatever. Anyways, we would like to officially announce issue #73: “Kan’t Spell”!
Bring us your funny typo stories, hard-hitting exposés on inner city literacy rates, guides to witchcraft and the occult, or the tale of that one time you fainted in middle school. However you choose to interpret this theme is fine with us! Loco Mag accepts articles, videos, podcasts, photo essays, and whatever else you wish to create.
Need some inspiration? Here are some keywords to get you started: spelling, spell check, grammar, insecurity, Chat GPT, spells, fainting, witchcraft, Google, Harry potter, language, Duolingo, schooling, The Magic Schoolbus, fantasy, time, replacing, sickness, death, Hocus Pocus, halloween, dyslexia, literacy…etc.
Our sections include Travel, Lifestyle, AV Room (Audio/Photo/Video), Entertainment, Mood, and Features. Regular articles usually run upwards of 500 words. Features typically run around 1,500 words. Have more than that? Cool! If not, no worries. We’re an electronic publication so space is unlimited. We’ll accept anything from a 250-word photo spread to a 500-word interview to an hour-long podcast to a 2-minute video. Be creative, and tell your truth.
Submit your work by Sunday, November 5th at 11:59 pm. You can submit by clicking the “submissions” tab right below the featured slider on the homepage.
