Welcome to my neighborhood. It’s too bad we couldn’t be more welcoming, but we’ve got this problem where people still don’t know how to dispose of their trash (even though it’s 2020 people). You never know what you’ll find walking around, and it’s a little ridiculous.

One Saturday morning, a tray of mac and Cheese was found, with not much eaten out of it. Makes you wonder where this even came from? Did it fall off of the top of someone’s car? But why would they have had a barley eaten uncovered tray of mac and cheese on top of their car? Some of the trash in my neighborhood is very puzzling.

The most common pieces of trash on the ground were different articles for things to be drank out of. Monster cans, alcohol cans and bottles, styrofoam cups, plastic and paper cups, the plastic ring thing that goes on the top of slushie cups.

A truly can, supports the previous point. There were a lot of these in my hunt, so maybe it tells us that we have basic drinking habits here in Wyncote? (They are also my canned drink of choice, so no shame there.)

The most common piece of trash. This was found right outside my apartment’s back door. Most people don’t think of this as littering, but it most certainly is. Once you finish with your smoke throw it away!

This is just laziness.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made medical/personal waste even more of an issue. I find facemasks on the ground EVERYWHERE. On the floors in stores, in the Target parking lot, alongside the road, in the grass, it’s not like they blow right off your face and you can’t grab them in-time. If you don’t want to wear it anymore just throw it in the trash at least, not on the ground, the strings can suffocate animals!

This isn’t littering per-say, since it was technically in someone’s front yard, but it was clearly thrown there to just dissolve. It’s still trash, but maybe not meant for a landfill. Either way, this is not how you dispose of it.

Remember when I said there are weird kinds of trash in my neighborhood? Here are a bunch of random articles of clothing. This is alongside a residential street right in front of someone’s home. I’m confused why you couldn’t have taken off your clothes and let them somewhere you’re supposed to, not along the street, especially since you clearly aren’t going to reuse them?

A common sight unfortunately. Again, laziness. The trash is already in the bag, take a few more steps and put it in the trash, at least!

Why is there an entire empty juice container under this car? You bought this juice on the way home from the store then couldn’t help yourself and drank the whole thing before even getting home? Fine, put it in the recycling bin literally right behind your spot, your family will never know.

It was so terrible to take these amazing artsy pictures and have them ruined by trash.

The face mask makes another appearance, this time with yellow construction caution tape, so this might have even been deliberate.

Anyways, the end determinations are this. People in my neighborhood are lazy. Everything on the ground could have easily been left in your car to throw away at another date or just hung on until you got to a trash can, which in Wyncote, isn’t that hard to find. It’s just easier to let it fall out of your car or to drop it on the ground. We think that littering is a ‘thing of the past’, everyone knows not to litter right? Right! But do people still do it? Yes they do and that makes them a trash human being. Littering isn’t cool and never has been. Dispose of your trash responsibly. If we’re going to litter up our world with landfills, at least take the responsibility to get your trash to the designated areas, not on the lawn outside your apartment. That’s lazy and trashy. When you focus on the things that the rest of the people living there try to forget (the trash or maybe even their own trash), it’s a little surprising how much you come up with.
