Loco Mag is seeking college-age writers, photographers, videographers, designers, and interviewers to contribute to our latest issue! For those who aren’t familiar with our work, Loco is a lifestyle and culture magazine always on the hunt for new articles, photo spreads, and fresh takes on student perspectives. We are not strictly a news publication or a creative writing publication. We want to hear from you! We want your stories in your voice and your words.
According to Urban Dictionary user H4V0K_864x, the phrase “type shit” can be defined as “a colloquial term that is used in conjunction with a phrase, idiom, verb or adjective to quickly summarize a given scenario.” This phrase has become especially popular among Gen Z, frequently appearing within posts and comment sections on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
There is a lot to talk about here, and it’s not just limited to Internet slang terms. Perhaps you want to talk about something cool you’ve just discovered, or maybe the nature of online interactions in general. In its current form, type shit is generally used as a phrase to describe virtually any scenario, so this is your chance to talk about typing on a keyboard, using swear words in various settings, or anything in between.
Need more inspiration? Here are some keywords to get you started: stenography, fonts, filler words, colloquialisms, Internet slang, social media, period, AAVE, linguistics, swear words, that’s cool, things like that.
Our sections include Travel, Lifestyle, AV Room (Audio/Photo/Video), Entertainment, Mood, and Features. Features typically run around 1,500 words. Have more than that? Cool! If not, no worries. We’re an electronic publication so space is unlimited. We’ll accept anything from a 250-word photo spread to a 500-word interview to an hour-long podcast to a 2-minute video. Be creative, and tell your truth.
Submit your work by Sunday, March 22nd, at 11:59pm. You can submit by clicking the “submissions” tab right below the featured slider on the homepage.
